Sekhar Suri, the director who shot to fame with successful suspense thriller 'A Film By Aravind' made a sequel to it now. Did the film live up to its predecessor. Read on...

What is it about?

A film crew goes to a forest in Karnataka for shooting. They don't know that a psycho killer is on rampage and is killing everyone that comes to his forest. He starts hunting them one by one and only a handful of them will be left after sometime. Now they had to battle for their lives and kill him to save their lives. Can they do that?

Performances:

Sree, who made his debut with Ee Rojullo played one of the leads in this film. He is okay. Kamal Kamaraju is average. Adonika has hot looks but don't know how to act. Surprisingly talented young actress Madhavi also has put up a weak show. Srinivas Avasarala is fine in the supporting role. The actor who played the masked killer role has menacing physique and made a great impact even though his face wasn't shown at all.

Technicalities:

Sekhar Suri is an experienced director when it comes to dealing thrillers. The production design is good. They found a good location to shoot this thriller. He also got good output from the cinematographer and music director. Sound effects are noteworthy. Editing could have been better. Sekhar's direction is good in parts. However, he failed as a writer. Story and screenplay are pretty weak and that is not a good sign for a thriller. Despite having few thrills the film fails to leave an impact due to bad writing. Dialogue writer did a horrible job too.

Analysis:

Thriller movies always have their own set of audience. But the makers of this film failed to promote it well. Hence, Aravind 2 didn't get the necessary attention from the target audience. Although they called it a sequel to A Film By Aravind, that didn't get proper publicity. Aravind 2 is a failure on publicity front.

That weakness could have been covered if the film is made well. A good word of mouth might have turned the cards in favor of Aravind 2. Unfortunately that too didn't happen and the movie ended up as a poor thriller with a predictable script. This film is loosely based on Hollywood slasher movie 'Friday the 13th' and the director has given credits to the original in the end.

Aravind 2 is too lengthy for this genre film. There are many logical errors throughout the film and they are too glaring to go unnoticed. Proper attention is not given neither to the script nor the detail. Perhaps Sekhar Suri might have made this work had he made this film immediately after A Film By Aravind. This film is a product made by a director who is low on confidence.

Aravind 2 will also join the list of disappointing low budget films that released in this month and you could wait for the Home Edition. There is nothing spectacular about this film to catch it on big screen.
